Does anyone have a Lupine Passuibo Xl front light, I am looking to purchase a good front light for my daily commute to work 28mile round trip it takes approx 1hour each way and I can charge my light at work so battery life does not concern me. Does anyone have any experience of this light. My route is mainly down cycle paths ie dissused railways the biggest problem I have is inconsiderate dog walkers who belive that their dog has complete right of way and show no attempt to get it under control even when it is blocking the whole path. I average between 14 - 15mph so hitting a dog in the dark could cost me a lot in bike repairs.

The other light I have considered is a Hope vision 4.

Any advice would be very helpfull

There's a few fans of the AyUp roadie kit on here, myself included. If it was my money that's what I'd be getting. Tiny little things, completely bombproof and fantastic light output, I've done 30mph+ downhill in complete darkness with total confidence.

A 6 hour battery too. I know you said battery life wan't important but believe me, you WILL forget to charge them at some point and getting stuck in the dark with no lights aint funny. The fact it has two lamp units instead of one is what swung it for me over the Dinotte. It's very handy, allows you to stagger the beam a bit to suit the circumstances.

Cheaper than either of the two you've linked to and more than you'll ever need. Then again, if you have £250 to buy lights, get the MTB kit which comes with two lamp sets and extra batteries and will blow the Hope and Lupine out the water for light output and versatility.

Also very good are the Fenix P3D and L2D torches - Chris N and I had these on the Dun run, and riding side by side it was like being in a car. Amongst the very brightest lights we saw on the ride, far outperforming most of the others.

I can relate to that ;)

I get 6 hrs out of my AyUps and 8 hrs ;) from the Dionette tail light on full beam.

Both sets are highly visible even in the day which actually makes a difference in close urban traffic.

Ordered AYUp lights

I have ordered the Ayup Road kit hopefully they will provide me with enough light to get me in and out of work safely.

Thanks for all of your advice.

320 Lumens for the road set. I spoke to Ayup UK today and this is what they told me.

I have ordered a Fenix T10 tank light to see what they are like. Cost about £45 with bracket to go on the bike and chucks out about 235 lumens.

Batterys not an issue as i can get tehm for FREE

For commuting, I'd seriously consider a hub dynamo and LED lamp - fit and forget. I know that there's a higher outlay initially now that the high-powered LED's are so much cheaper, but just think of all the hassle it will save you taking lamps/batteries off and charging them every day or every other day. And as pointed out above, you will forget at some point.

Also, whilst there are some awkward buggers out there using shared paths, 14-15mph is just a bit quick to be going past something as uncontrollable as a dog!
