It was 9C when I left this morning, fantastic t-shirt/shorts weather...or maybe I have too much natural insualtion...one of those.

43 def F. here when I left home (6c?)- lovely. When I got to Cambridge many of the locals looked like they were about to go on an Arctic expedition- massive coats, woolly hats, gloves etc.... They're a bit like Geordies in reverse!

I was out on a 40+m ride this morning down south (i.e. into county Durham) and was sweating like hell. At on point I had to zip my top fully open - not thinking about winter stuff for ages yet.

full gloves although not my winter ones. my "autumn" ones and my overshoes this morning. there was definitely THAT chill in the air, the chill that only cyclists know about... that summer is on it's way out. Last year i didn't feel it until October tho

Pansies ;)

darm cold here as well this morning - long sleeved thermal top under summer cycling top, 3/4 length tights, full length gloves and very cold (tingling fingers) for very 15mins of cycle ride to work.

I use a thin thermal top too under my summer shirt.

Still in shorts and short fingered gloves, will be changing to long fingered soon but still in the above.

Thought about leaving your gloves near a radiator overnight? ;)

oops - "for very 15mins of cycle ride to work." should have read "for the first 15 minutes of my ride to work" - takes 45mins.

As for the radiator, not much point really - heating is not on yet and I sleep with all 4 windows open - I'm a northerner - north of the border, but yesterday there was a definite chill in the air (I live on a nature reserve on marshland which is always several degrees colder than the surrounding area) and dense fog made life colder still - long fingered gloves because I don't use short fingered gloves at all and I have bad circulation in my permanetly injured left wrist, and the thermal top is a thin one as well.
3/4 length tights? - well I just like to be slightly warmer than shivering ;)

Editing my own post here - but the edit button is no longer there - suspect time...

It should have read
"darm cold here as well this morning - long sleeved thermal top under summer cycling top, 3/4 length tights, full length (non-winter) gloves and very cold (tingling fingers) for first 15mins of cycle ride to work."
(my route is 45mins each way)

After finding that the cold at 6am yesterday made my fingers nip for the first 5 miles, I decided this morning to wear my Prendas arm-warmers and the full-finger gloves I bought from Lidl some time back (think they're MTB gloves).

Back to the fingerless mitts and the bare arms tonight on the way home though - likely to be 17 - 18C again by 4pm.
