Wipperman/Connex 8 Speed Chains

One forum contributor is a fan of Wipperman, albeit the 10 speed version, but generally speaking they hardly get a look in, nor are they widely available.

Are they overlooked for any particular reason; they do seem to be more expensive than KMC, but it's hard to know if I am comparing like for like.

Any particular reason you prefer them over, say, KMC? Are the Connex quicklinks reusable? I found a couple of sellers on Ebay, where do you get yours from?

That, and the brass coated ones are very bling*. KMC ones, ime, don't like being stomped on by big units. Bought mine Wippermanns off fleabay probs from the same folk you've found.

*Did I tell you how shallow I am?

Went for an 808 a couple of quid cheaper than Ebay.

I found them looking for Velox rim tape, for which they're also the cheapest I've found.

This is the best (only) price I've found for links, unfortunately the flashy Brass ones are 10 speed only.

I've got a wipperman 8sp chain on my town bike because it was the cheaper at the time when compared to SRAM & KMC.

I've got a wipperman on my singlespeed. I bought it because it was the cheapest make actually I'd heard of - I think it was three quid from CRC last year!
