Oh dear, nasty!

I'm very wary of them. I was messing with my dads a few years ago and fired it up while holding it upside down. One of my fingers got knocked out of the way when it started and I got away with it taking the tiniest sliver off my nail so was very lucky indeed.

Good bits of kit though.

Thanks for the concerned replies.

It was quite gruesome and I am surprised how well I reacted. The body floods itself with Adrenalin and Glucose, so I did not pass out, but the recollection of it makes me feel very "off".

Have been assessed for plastic surgery at East Grinstead, but they say it is not necessary as I have been most fortunate in that the blade missed every vital feature of my ring finger on my left hand. Lots of tissue damage, but it will still work after a fashion.

I will still be able to operate Campag Ergo levers.
