Woman's Flat bar road bike or hybrid?

I am looking to get Carly my wife a bike she isn't keen to get a road bike but would like a hybrid.

Could I get her a road bike with a flat bar on it as its the drop bars she seems to fear or can some one recommend a hybrid that can be used for road cycling on occasion.

Just look for a hybrid without suspension and have tyres on that are suitable for road riding.
I recommend Specialized Sirrus or Vita.
I have a Charge Grater which I would also recommend.

The Victoria is extremely well named

The Boardman rigid fork hybrids are decent too with some discounts right now, especially if British cycling member

Specialized do nothing for me but are decent bikes. The Trek 7.x range are good too, giant have the Liv models too

How's the Dolan btw?

I've just got back from a visit to "go outdoors" they have some cracking flatbar bikes in with all terrain tyres, the prices I thought were very reasonable too. http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/cycling/bikes

Decathlon seemed to have a flat bar equivalent for each of their drop bar models

Alternatively look for bikes like giant avail, which has cross levers, giving you flat bar style braking until you get comfortable with brifters
