Hi,
I'm looking for a bike for riding in the city. I'm female and 5"9 and my budget is really around £200.
I am clueless... thank you so much!

Suggest you look for something second hand given your budget.
At your height, a medium would probably be right but make sure you try it before.
What city are you in? Will you be on roads, paths, parks etc? How hilly will it be where you ride?
Are you wanting flat handlebars or dropped racer ones?
I’d avoid anything with a suspension fork

Is there a bicycle recycling social enterprise near you?

If there is it would be a good starting point for finding a bike that will meet your needs. They may also be able to put you in touch with cycle training (maintenance and riding) if you want it.

A small budget makes it difficult if you want something that won't leave you frustrated because it's too heavy / unwieldy / poorly made / uncomfortable to ride.

Some new budget bikes aren't actually that bad to be fair - as long as you stay away from anything with suspension or flashy cosmetic gizmos. Decathlon do a decent range of basic, affordable bikes.

Secondhand does give you much better bang-for-buck, but if you're starting from scratch, buying used can be a minefield. @All uphill's suggestion is a good one. :okay:
