At work today, I picked up a copy of 'Cycling Weekly' from June, in Radiology, just to read between patients
(one of my collegues drops all his old mags, in various waiting rooms)
The interesting article was the 'Ride With'
In this case 'Crest CC'
Whilst I've never been to, & can imagine no reason to ever go to, Essex, some of the village/hamlet names were wonderful
The map, as it was, in the magazine
I looked on OS 1/25,000 & there's such wonderfully evocative names as;
Aythorpe Roding, White Roding, Leaden Roding, Margaret Roding, Abbess Roding, Beauchamp Roding, High Roding
Then; Maidens, Chimballs, High Easter, Good Easter,
A; Matching, Matching Green, Matching Tye(!!)
And............... Shellow Bowels
