ive seen something thats more compact and easier to transport ,....... its called a tent

You'd struggle for night time pannier storage with no porch area.

If you've seen this [black comedy] film then you'd definitely NOT want one!!

I got bored with the video after 15 seconds. If I wanted to lug 30kg of stuff around with me I'd have a tent, a sleeping mat, a sleeping bag and 24 bottles of wine...
It really does seem like a solution in search of a problem.

I just cannot see how the slightest wind would not have either the whole thing blown over, or dragging you off a cliff edge

Out here on the windswept Holderness Plain, it would be permanently "closed to high sided vehicles". Something on the lines of the Combi-camp might work though.
