Don't know if the wet weather makes pedestrians even less aware of cyclists but this morning coming past Victoria Station in Manchester I must have had 4 step out in front of me. Luckily, there's not much traffic there and I know what they are like so I ride near the middle of the road.

On the other side of the coin, on my way home I stopped at a pelican. There was a couple crossing first followed by a lady about 4 yards behind them. As the couple got onto the pavement another cyclist went past me and through the red light. Luckily the lady had seen him and stopped as he went past. I gave her an apologetic look but she didn't look best pleased, and rightly so.

Wet weather brings on all kinds of primordial fears in us. We have it engrained in us that rain is bad and I think that is why pedestrians act stupid in wet weather or drive silly.

They just want to get out of the rain

Hey, thanks, that can be my new mantra.
I awoke with a grimace this morning at 5:00am, listening to the gushing rain, luckily it turns out it was my neighbours highly overindulgent fish pond/river pump that had turned on early.
