Yay! first long-way-home commute of 2011

Strangely I never feel like it if it's dark before I start, I'm quite happy doing it if it gets dark during it though.

It was great. Except for all the mud and branches all over the roads. Oh, and the toss monkey who overtook me at 40 mph just as I was about to turn right. It was still great though, overall.

Which reminds me of that statistician joke: a statistician is riding his snowmobile when it crashes and bursts into flames, his friend asks him if he's OK and he replies "my hair is on fire and my toes are frostbitten, on average I'm fine"

Went to clean the bike today, the roads really were muddy- bike was covered in it, cyclocross style. Now I remember the reason I wait for spring to get underway before doing the long commutes.

Getting mud on your bike is NOT an excuse not to ride it. Wipe it off and get back on it!

I'll be doing it again this week, I might do an extra mile and avoid the very muddy lane! it's closed to through traffic- one great service drivers do for us is to help keep the road surface free of mud and branches.
