Its twenty past one in the morning and you're shopping online for the correct shade of grey-green to paint the inside of a Handley Page Halifax bomber...

seriously, i've been searching and there's forums arguing over colour palettes... its an odd light green with a grey mixed in, its annoying, and i can't start my build without it... Hmph.

anything annoying you lot tonight :addict:

Branch out from the norm and paint it blue, i am sure the original flight crew didnt take much notice of the colour scheme

Yes - trying to find a wireless doorbell exactly the same size as the current (broken) one so I don't have to repaint the hallway through buying a smaller one.

Oh - and I'd think the inside of the bomber's irrelevant. If I'd one on my garden the neighbours would be worried

You can get one that is bigger you know

I still can't work out whether we are talking restoration or anal Airfix-ing.

I was awake the other night working out that a Land Rover tyre is 0.65 the diameter of an AEC Matador tyre and that if I narrowed a Land Rover Salisbury axle to using standard short half shafts each side the track width of the axle would also be 0.65 of that of the AEC Matador!
Cue a process of working out all the other Matador dimensions down to 0.65 scale to see if I could build a scale model....

Scale model meaning that it would still be the size of a long wheel base Land Rover but very narrow!^_^

I WISH it was restoration but sadly its anal modelling, if we want to get more anal i can point out i've had to order parts to get the engine nacelle intakes right and replace the gods awful props the revell kit gives you?
hehe
i'm also turning a hurricane mk ii C into a ii D which again required after market kits, basically replacing the 4 20mm guns for 2 40mm vickers S guns, used to be known as 'Flying Tin Openers'
oh and i found the right colour in the end, just waiting for it to arrive in the post.

I remember painting the inside of the engines/wings etc black. nobody would ever see it, but that didn't matter.

Except for painting the pilot and cockpit i.e the bits that could be seen, I think I left the rest of the actual interior the colour it was though unless I knew better (which I didn't).

My grandad was a tail gunner in the Halifax in WW2 (obviously) went with my dad to view the one near Leeds earlier this year, very emotional!
