Hi All,

I've looked into the cycle 2 work scheme and the only shop my company use is the Bike Dock in Belfast. I have to admit to not being too impressed with them. Not very helpful, a limited choice etc.

However that said I have come down to a choice of 2, details to follow, both priced at £800 giving me room for SPD pedals, shoes etc. Can you give me your thoughts on the make, and which of the two bikes you feel is the better of the two.

Regards

Don't know about the frame - but the Veloce groupset is an upgrade over the Mirage so I'd opt for the first choice. My only concern would be the Miche Hubs front and back - I have never used them but miche tend to be at the bottom end of the market and I would be happier with Campag hubs from the same groupset.

Thanks for the heads up on the hubs, I think for the meantime I will have to except them as I'm sure an upgrade would be rather expensive.

Now since writing the post I have phoned the shop again and I'm pleased to say I got speaking to Simon, a guy who seems to know his stuff, was very helpful, giving me a boost of confidence in the outfit. It turns out the Escape Mirage 09 has been superseded by the Escape 09 and seems to be a better bike for the money.

Hi getfit

My mate just got a bike from the bike dock on the cycle to work scheme. I have been in the shop and your right, if your looking for a road bike the choice is limited.
He paid a £1000 for his bike, i think its a Genesis.

I don't think the deals they are offering are the best in the world.

Normally I'm all for a good haggle, but am under the impression that shops selling you a bike on the C2W systems wont give any discounts or upgrades. Not sure if they are using the system to get top dollar or have to take a hit on what they receive?

Cheers Peza,

It's good to know that it's not just me being too demanding!
