BHF London to Southend

Hi All,

Some friends and I are considering attempting the BHF London to Southend Bike ride on our inline skates to raise money for charity. We're a very experienced bunch and have just completed the London to Brighton Bike Ride in the same manner without any difficulty.

I'm wondering if anyone here has done it before and has any memory of what the surfaces are like? Hills and so on aren't a problem, but 59 miles of very rough concrete would be extremely exhausting and unpleasant.

never done it, at least not by the BHF route but it's considered to be an easy ride from what I've read, flat, I don;t recall any comments regarding surfaces

Never had any problems with road surface in the five times we have done this ride.
The only troubles I can remember is the impatient car drivers when you get into Southend, but then thats nothing new.
Unfortunatly we will miss the ride this year as we are away.
