Been looking at getting back into biking.
Want to do everything from a little road use to biking through trails in the forest, beach, off road trials and paved trials. Like the boardmans but open to other suggestions, looking at £850 max price? It was more; do I need the suspension and does 1x and 2x chainlink matter? Thanks!

Current bikes I’m looking at were: Boardman MTX 8.8 and Boardman HYB 8.8.

Sorry for the late reply.

Of those two, I'd probably lean toward the Boardman HYB 8.8 on account it is 2.2 Kg lighter. Although the MTX 8.8 has an air suspension fork, these bikes have 35mm wide tyres and I'd recommend a hard tail mountain bike with 2.1 inch + wide tyres for off road trails really. Just because the tyres can be run at lower pressures for larger contact patch / more grip and more comfort.

63mm suspension isn't much at all, coupled with it being a budget fork so i'd opt for the hybrid to save 2.2kg.

Little chance of riding either very far on the beach due to how skinny the tyres are.
