Includes a guide for local planners on how to implement cycle paths

Bicycles being, for the most part, toys and simple machines they do not require road surfaces that cars should be afforded. While a coloured covering on a cycle lane is desirable to show cyclists exactly where they must ride, and where drivers can park, this need not be maintained. After time everyone will know that this is a designated cycle lane and so as the surface material starts to deteriorate a collective memory will ensure that cyclists are afforded just as much security in the cycle lane as when the surface was new.
