Crazy planes

Are you old enough to remember seeing them flying regularly in the skies as part of our constant readiness alert? I do, them and another whose name escapes me for now (Victor maybe). Flying really high but an unmistakable silhouette through the binoculars.

Just. Back at my primary school on the northern edge of Leeds they used to fly over, my dad said they were calibrating their radars from beacons in Yorkshire - I have no way of knowing if this was true or just a dad story for a 6 year old.

Actually I think thats the Victor in the pic. and a Hunter..and some Lightnings...

They've got all sorts of stuff at Bruntingthorpe, including a 747 in ASDA colours, I've never been on site, only over it. The vulcan is kept indoors so is only seen when departing or returning.
