Yeah, I knew my working was wrong, but I had enough letters to be sure my answer was right.

better than upthread, where I hadn't heard of either Evelyn (my only diarists were Pepys and Bridgette Jones) .

I'll work on a clue tomorrow, and see if I can come up with one that doesn't make anyone want to punch me. Someone else can step into the breach in the meantime.
