Free Windows DVD -> WMV conversion?

Does it *have* to be WMV? If not, Handbrake will do it.

Auto Gordian Knot is a great open source tool for ripping but won't go straight to wmv. You could rip with that and then use a converter. Not ideal though.

Amazingly, the website does not seem to say anywhere what platform(s) this runs on! However, the very fact that I have to *guess* something like that makes the guess itself trivial.

I use DVD Decrypter and then Super to convert it to a variety of formats including WMV or iPod friendly video.

Well thanks everyone/ I guess I'll have to do a two-stage conversion. It's very annoying, as they insist on wmv, and I can't really see why they want it. I need some of it, but I'll be using Flash, and there are loads more formats I could have chosen for that.

Strictly speaking it's a one stage conversion...VOB to WMV, you just use the decrypter to get the VOB file from the DVD.
