Surely because its become socially unacceptable to drink and drive (apart from some die hards etc)

Why is it socially unacceptable to drink and drive? Maybe it is because we all know that alcohol impairs our driving. But not as much as mobile phones, apparently. That should make phone driving even more unacceptable.

Yes and folk also know the same about mobile use, but still do it. Its easier to hide.
