Is Collecting Bikes an Obsession or a Need to do Something Creative?

Due to my former job as a Unix admin redundancy of tools for productive tasks has become obsessential for me.

I take it you've seen my outside bike storage. That'd pretty much describe them

Two grass track bikes, an old Raleigh Pioneer, an old Dawes Kingpin plus a Raleigh Team that's been badly gloss painted.

The 'expensive' stuff is stored inside.

5 now myself after my latest creation,I need a bigger place to keep them as I'm having to use the shed I keep the kids bikes and gardening stuff now too

I think it is an obsession and I’m certainly hooked!
I can only just manage to count the number of bikes I have on my fingers and toes!
I love the bargain hunting, cleaning up, fettling and riding.
Breathing new life into an unloved machine is, for me, an absolute pleasure.

I do repairs on friends and neighbours' bikes. That lets me play with lots of bikes, which seems to suppress the urge to buy and own bikes, as well as being a sociable and green thing to do.

In the last week alone I've aligned the derailleur hanger on a new bike, put new tyres on a 1990's Raleigh MTB, and replaced the freewheel on a 2000 Marin hybrid.
