Some websites are reporting that he committed suicide. Very sad ...

ELP were the first band that I ever went to see, in my mid-teens in the early 1970s. (The Odeon, New Street, Birmingham.)

I am now living in Todmorden, Keith Emerson's home town.


If that's the gig when the power cut occurred part way in, I was there too. Keith kept us entertained with a piano session whilst waiting for the power to be restored.

Very sad, I was a big ELP fan when I was younger and I was listening to the Keith Emerson Band's version of Tarkus (which is brilliant) earlier this week. We used to argue at school over who was better, Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman.

I saw the 40th Anniversary tour of Journey to the Centre of the Earth at the Albert Hall

Wakeman et al are as good now as they always were

I think that is why the death of Emerson and the others affects us so much as many are still performing and their music remains popular
