As scaffolding and plastic sheeting goes, the Cutty Sark is impressive...

Well, yes, erm, ok, not the tourist highlight it once was!
Btw, does anyone want to come down to Weston Super Mare and see our lovely pier?!:surrender:

For wet days, you can't beat the Natural History museum or the Science museum next door.

Fine days, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast.

Boat trip (Large river bus) from Waterloo via stops at Houses of Parliament, Embankment, Blackfriars (I think) then Tower of London. And of course, back again. Lovely talk you get from the pilot as well about history of London and various buildings along the river. See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/modalpages/2648.aspx

I went to milan and the frickin Duomo was covered in scaffolding

Perhaps we could organize tours of great landmarks and sights which are covered in scaffolding...

Ooh, don't tempt me! Is it nicer than the one at Fleetwood?

The one at Sarfend is mighty fine.

Although a little burnt around the edges. Longest pleasure pier in the world. For 24 years it was the first thing I saw in the morning when I drew back the curtains (assuming no fog).

Top idea! Start off with the East End of York Minster.... Once the scaffolding's down, I'll have a nice view of it, but they reckon it'll be 10 years...

One more thing guys and gals:

When we get turfed out of the hotel on Monday a.m., we quite fancy stayng the rest of the day in London before heading back to Leicester.

Anyone know where I could safely park the car? I will be staying in the Wimbledon area. I'll ask the Hotel people if I can pay to leave my car parked at their car park (even though I've checked out), but they may not allow that.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure that there's free parking on The Mall, just outside Buckingham Palace which is also handy for the sights too:evil:
