There are still a few of those derelict Pennine hill farms around. They would need a road and services, prohibitively expensive before you even start on the restoration.

That one is only a few yards from the road I was cycling on and there is an electricity pole right next to it. There is a block of cottages a hundred metres or so away so I reckon water should not be a huge problem? It might need a liquid gas supply and a septic tank though.
