'In the still of the night ....'
Keeps running through my mind since I got back. 11 souls, 9 on Bromptons and 2 big wheelers rolled serenely through a clear, cool still night without drama. OK,
@slowmotion suffered a catastrophic front derailleur failure and one of the Brommies needed gear cable adjustment, but apart from that ...
We were sent-off with home-made Brownies courtesy of Rob and Dina from London Brompton Club, Oxford was alive with 'Fresher action' and the surprising cold of this night hit us as we left the city limits. Clear night, shining stars. Wheatley was quiet for a change, Thame had the fair in town but was quieter than usual. Climbing Chinnor hill on a Brompton was an experience, but not a bad one. The Kennels are now closed so no haunting howling and the Badgers were quiet too. The descent into High Wycombe a blast and speedy ride to the stop at Beaconsfield. dibdib of yacf had planted the seed of a dirty McD in my mind and I have to say it was just what was needed. Replete we tackled the narrow lanes to the outskirts of London and the first signs of dawn as we crossed the M25, but stil no warmer. The roads serene we glided gently to our destination and a well earned brekkie.
All in all a lovely night to be out pedaling among friends old and new :-)
