I've let my local know. We've quite a few people who have enjoyed rail+bike tours of Scotland.

There are plans afoot to reduce cycle capacity on trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh, but perhaps more importantly for the touring cyclist, also on the West Highland Line between Glasgow and Oban/Fort William.

Oppose the proposed cuts!
Hopefully it will be Policed by Scotrail staff with the same common sense approach they use on the Clyde routes (Glasgow to Ayr/Largs/Gourock/Wemyss Bay). The actual allocated bike space can only take 2 bikes, and even then the bike space has fold down seats which are often occupied. Either that or they are used by prams, extra luggage storage etc.. Train staff have never objected to bikes being stored in the space beside the train doors (as long as you move it to the side opposite the platform at the appropriate stations!).
