Sad, sad news - Vernon has gone to the great Pie shop in the sky!

Just days after his retirement our much loved cycling friend, Vernon Levy, had a heart attack and died whilst on holiday in Budapest.

A big man with a big heart and a larger-than-life-character, he left an impression on everyone who had the good fortune to spend time with him. Known as much for his love of cycling as his love of pies, he was also very passionate about his work and his legacy will no doubt include the positive difference he has made in the lives of the kids he taught.

Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family, friends, colleagues and close fellow CycleChatters.

That is so sad, he never even had a chance to see if retirement suited him.

I'm grateful to his colleague Sharon for registering to let us know (Vernon had shown her some of his CycleChat posts).

It's such a shame he won't get to fulfill his retirement plans.

Horrific news. I was thinking about how Vernon would get on in his retirement just this morning, probably because I hadn't seen him online for a day or so. @Shaun - if you have a contact with his family would you pass on our shock and sadness for us?
