Sheared threads tightening cassette

OK plenty of videos for removing the freehub body (love the YouTube age). Looks easy and happy to give this a go.

I'll need to buy a new freehub body, but how do I identify the one I have so I make sure I get the same one, or at least know it's compatible ? It's a 10-speed cassette, I'm pretty sure it's a Shimano - but there seem to be several models of Shimano 10-spd available ? WH-R600, Ultegra 6700, ...

You'll need a freehub to fit your hub and which accepts a 10 speed Shimano cassette (i.e the correct width). Freehubs come in different 'levels', the same as, for example, rear mechs, so a 105 freehub will be cheaper than an Ultegra freehub (and probably slightly heavier and not quite as good quality).

Feel a bit stupid now - the hub is clearly marked Shimano 105.

Is there any benefit to getting a better freehub and are they compatible?

105 freehub is probably the best 'bang for buck' choice.

Good news. The threads on the freehub body are fine with a different locking cap.

Would still like to understand about the different hub body choices though.

Without checking I think the 5700 is 10 speed and the 5800 is 11 speed.
