My Dad was going to buy a Consul like the one in your last pic as our first family car.
Unfortunately, he ended up buying an Austin 1100 with a roll-back vinyl roof.
I'm not sure that I have ever forgiven him for being so uncool.

I once owned a Mk2 Consul, and a MK1 though neither were roadworthy.
I had a '55 Mk1 Zodiac for several years that I used quite a bit.

I'd go this way, although you could stay on CS3 to Barking instead of via Canary Wharf. 50 miles on the nose from HPC. Cafe at South Hornchurch (mile 20 1/2) does a good bacon sandwich if you needed a half way stop. The aerodrome website says they have a cafe. Trains back to Liverpool Street from South Woodham Ferrers don't seem that frequent though, with a couple of changes at weekends.

When you going Dave? I'd be up for it, but would ride back to Dartford Crossing or Woolwich ferry.

They have the Wings and Wheels event next month, thinking of playing sniper and taking pics from the hills maybe. The cafe would be out of bounds coz entry is £15
