Thought with you sending positive vibes, you were using yer newly set up microwave system.
You'll not catch much fish on the road, or are the potholes that bad!
Dreams of things that may come...
Aah well...

A dry day!
First in how many days?
Visible to the naked eye, light pollution permitting?
Sithi, enjoy yerssen.

Nah, still got some peripheral stuff to get...

Safe yet then. No "death ray" pointed in this direction yet.
T'ain't a pothole, minor surface imperfection. Don't step in it though, you never know how deep it might be.

Borealis?
Only asked because the sky were an odd colour to the northwest, long after sunset.
Died down, no satellite disruption sending the world back 30 years, or more. You were tucked up in yer bed when the next one hit, no doubt.

Found that wet day you missed yesterday. It's turned up down here.

I avoid any water if I'm out on the bike in case it is one..
Got all ready and it rained, hasn't registered yet, mmm
Checked the forecast and just got the marigolds on instead...
upstairs now shiny (parts of it)..
having a five (and chilled water )

Forecast is possible G3 later but that's less accurate the the Mutt Office.
HF frequencies are suffering a partial black out,
not the usual activities the last I saw.
My very first experience of a 'lift' was listening on 50mhz and folks voices having a donald duck effect due to ions going nuts..
It was a YL in Essex at 1.45UTC on 50.190 Mhz SSB, 10th April 1990
Funnily I then went back to SWListening etc, grew disillusioned at the time. Chucked the morse classes with weeks to go before I was to sit the test, I was sending up to 15 WPM and receiving the same with no difficulty, yeah, a bad juvenile move:laugh: 12 was the pass.
My first (other) contact out of Jockland was GI (norn iron) but that was me on a hilltop, first south of the border was to a fell in the Lakes but once again, a hilltop. No propagation involved.
Oh well, back to the bleach and biocides......

Ey...

On the upside you'd find a new fishing hole.
New type of rain being trialled in your area, dry rain.
The best laid plans of mice and men and all that. Pink or yellow?
That good a job sunglasses now required inside!
Still on yer five?
They can't be worse than mutt office, surely!
Giving you less to go at, whilst it's kicking off.
Used to get the "Donald Duck" effect on the telly, years ago. Remember not being able to get some of the radio stations I listened to, despite knowing where to find them on the dial.
You could have been a radio operator on a ship had you carried on yer lessons.
Not much power in them early days, limiting yer range? Now the Sky's no longer the limit. Wait for that "Wow" signal and have yer answer ready.
Don't ferget yer marigolds, think of yer hands.

I only use the saying Marigolds on...
I don't actually wear them..
Got my licence 50% odd of my life ago (almost, it was late '88)..
It's picked up on the lower bands, around 16.30.
Haven't checked back, ROUNDERS is back....
watch the free to air game just noo..

Knew quite a few who had gone to see in the '70s,
almost took up the offer of a job on the weather boats but got an offer elsewhere.. on land..
their base then was our local dock.

In those days, it was a class A and class B licence,
you had to pass the equivalent of today's Full licence paper, Morse got you on the HF bands, power wasn't an option like today, new recent regulation has increased power limit, I can use 1KW instead of 400 watts (on primary band status)..
I use a very low percentage of that, very low..

You disappoint me. There goes another mental picture of you. This time in yer marigolds, leaning over the sink.
That long ago!
If I'd sat mine, it'd have been nearly ten years before you. Put off by some of the local ham's, and they're attitudes to new members.
Missed it. Is there a chance they'll repeat on catch-up?
You sound surprised. Did they not tell you via your bank balance it were back.
Your side win?

Join the navy and see the world. All those contacts you might have made, as you sailed the seven sea's. Or just in the North Sea. This the same dock you played in as a kid?

Always looked at the equipment in use by some in the local "club". Knew it didn't come cheap, but never stopped me wanting it. Then it were gone...

Too restrictive to work in...
hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face with Bleach :cuppa:
I paid 1200 for my first radio and power supply in 89,
today you can get kitted out for less than that..
only thing now, everything is menu driven
The big advance is SDR (software defined radio),
you can buy a 'black box' covering from 0 khz to 2ghz for 100 quid...receive only !!
amazing piece of kit..

I'll take yer word on the too restrictive bit. Never having used then myself.
Only if you use green fairies!
And it makes a decent job of getting the dirt out from yer nails.
Offered a "full kit", second-hand, for just short of a £900. Then found out there was less than half the kit there. No Mike or leads being the obvious things missing from the full kit. He wanted to keep them for his new setup.
Any pizza or fish and chips on those menus...
Looking at getting a decent metal detector, and trying some known local sites/areas of interest purely for mapping them out if there is anything of interest there.

I've always fancied a bit of detecting..
I did test the waters back W asking a few farmers for permissions,
it seems 'experiences' with previous detectorists had put them off.

Bloke sells them down the Winchester (not Dave's pub in 'remember?') industrial place here
I've always had a chat with any out in the fields but very guarded and asked someone to take me out but got funny look which tended to say No to me.....
even after I did them a BIG favour....
needless to say I've been unavailable since..
and I don't bear grudges normally.

I'd rather buy new, hams are a shady lot sometimes....
a hobby full of very opinionated folk but also a very friendly hobby..
like everything else, the plonkas stand out...

Better go as Toodles is appearing soon....
and I have to nip out...

Similar issues here, along with the fact that Yorkshire Water actually own most of the interesting land where we know things have happened. They have a simple "Not a chance" policy, even for archaeological groups.
The last person who dug, found the remains of a man missing ten years.
I've land owned by relatives that could be dug, with no questions. Houses on parts a 100 years ago, now gone.
Think they're afraid you might nip in and find summat they'd have found.
Did this BIG favour result in any finds?

New at the time were beyond my reach, or so I were lead believe. He were doing me a favour, selling off his old kit.
Like you say, there's plonka's in every hobby, and they stand out more.

Toodles arriving and you going out?
Yer not sticking around fer yer daily exercise?

I just gave up on the idea as couldn't be erchied with it all.
Never know what you could find though, that is the attraction.
Al Mrs M relatives have retired from farming sadly....
Decent Xiegu gear on the market now,
I might get the 20w watt..
