Fast becoming a classic, this fearsome 50k event is the early spring highlight for serious club cyclists and randonneurs alike. Tyros from the Addiscombe, Norwood Paragon, Redhill, Epsom and others will aim to get round in something a little over two hours. Tandemists will be twiddling up Box Hill an hour and a half later. Think of it as the Tour of the Surrey Hills without the boring flat bits. Ranmore, Leith Hill, Friday Street, the road north out of Ewhurst, the horror that is White Down and Box Hill provide the entertainment. The start is at 10am from Ryka's car park, but, as signing on takes a little while, please do arrive with time in hand.

The route, in all it's glory, can be seen here -

those of you who are old enough to remember what a route sheet looks like will find it here -

We'll e-mail you one of those satnav thingys if you ask for one  or you can download (dread word) from 'bikely.com' (whatever that is) -
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Cheam-and-Morden-Hilly-50
If you click the elevation thingy, you'll see that there is 895 metres of climbing in 51.9 lkilometres of riding.

Last year's record turnout of 192 enjoyed every second. Or so I'm telling you. The entry fee is a princely three pounds, but, in a fit of generosity unheard of since GWB's bailout of the banks, we're going to slash it to two pounds if you pre-register.

To pre-register send
1. Your name
2. Your mobile number
3. Your club (if you're a member)
4. Your CTC membership number (ditto)
to
fnrttc@yahoo.co.uk

Those of you that rode in the 2008 edition will be pleased to hear that the Cheam and Morden, having nothing sensible to do with the proceeds of last year's extravaganza, is giving £300 to the Cyclists Defence Fund. Pip pip! And, yes, you are on my 900 strong mailing list, and I will be sending you importuning e-mails, so don't think that flicking over to P+L will save you. A world of pain awaits!

postponed! I rode part of the course this morning, and there's black ice all over the place. Pre-registered riders (we were up to 110) have been e-mailed - a general e-mail to the mailing list will go out tonight or tomorrow.
