cheers mrwill. i didnt notice the 7k. what would be the limit to buying one 2nd mileage wise? thanks for the cassette info lol its obvious haha.

in your opinion, would i be better off in the long run switching to 10 speed, in terms of parts availability 2nd hand?

The 'limit' really depends on how well the cassette has been maintained. Personally, I'd not bother with second hand, unless it's near as damnit new. You can pick up a decent cassette for a tenner new.

An upgrade to 10 speed will be expensive, since it would involve changing shifters and mechs - which does not seem likely for somebody looking at buying a second-hand cassette. New 9 speed cassettes will be cheap and available for a few years yet.
