Why you need more than one bike

Well technically I don't if I had looked after the other better . This morning, I give a quick pull of the commuter bakes before I set off. The front cable snaps so I run inside and grab my other bike, which is faster anyway so I still arrive at work on time.

Of course you need more than one bike! Tch! A best bike for the sunny days, a winter bike or at least a bike fitted with ' guards for the wet days, and a bike for pootling with the family, capable of being ridden to the shops etc, without the necessity of having to wear cleats etc, etc.

Family bike and one commuter has SPD's.

I've recently had a bad spate of punctures. When I told her of my last one, she said "Oh dear, I think you need a new bike."

What I meant was, next time someone asks you why you need more than one bike, ask them why they need more than one pair of shoes.

Sorry! Dense hat on today. My wife has millyons of pairs. Even the pair I bought her as a Xmas pressie back in 1980 (Mauve suede courts) They're still going strong and come out occasionally so I can't say she doesn't use them or look after them.

Think of it as a bike for a purpose. You wouldn't out of choice ride your best road bike across a field, but if you had a MTB or a cross you would. Then again, your winter/hack bike needs to have 'guards on it for protection, but your best bike wouldn't. You can never really have too many bikes. Think of all the specialised bikes you could have. Touring, racing, hack, winter, mtb etc.

I have a room with a wall full of guitars...11 at last count..I only ever play two of them really...so working on the same theory I need to add 10 new bikes to my garage and ride 2 of them.
