I suspect from that the £99.99 deal is just the frame. The forks on their own new are going to be £60 ish so plus seatpost clamp and headset as well £199.99 ain't bad.

The Genesis for the same spec is going to be about £300 when you add in the carbon forks and long drop callipers.

Not sure the extra £100 is worth it.

It won't be. It's a winter hack (heavier/less responsive) and you'll be itching to get back on your carbon jobbie. I was on the Surosa yesterday and wish I wasn't.

I had thought about importing a carbon CX frame wouldn't cost much more and would certainly be lighter.

Have you looked at ribble, Px, Dolan bargains area?

i would go for a dolan rather than ribble, px or a genisis. have used dolan bikes before and they are great value for money.
