Recently spent a lovely day in Dedham on the river with my two sons ( see latest Avatar pic - size doesn't do it justice). It feels like every building in Dedham had Wisteria growing somewhere. It is chocolate boxey but it was exactly what the doctor ordered.
I was walking around the flower show like a leper
Coming down with some kind of nervous hysteria
When I saw you standing there, green eyes, black hair
Up against the pink and purple wisteria
I have one on the back fence that was there when we moved in. Trouble is apart from one tree it has nothing to climb. It also only flowers on old wood, so we have to keep it cut down too much for it to flower properly. It runs along the ground in places and it just like old cables all over the back.
I planted one in the flower bed at the side of back garden to anoy my neighbour. As it grows and bends over his side, he cuts it back. Point is that where he cuts it then becomes several shoots, so the more he cuts it back the thicker it gets.
