It's this weekend! Campsite opens 4pm Friday...

And we're into the final day for advance campsite bookings! Book in advance for speedy check-in and also to be sited with your friends, club or other group. Our campsite team need the next few days to juggle all of these group requests and come up with a sensible layout, so bookings close at midnight tonight! Do it online... before midnight TODAY, Monday 15th June!

Meanwhile on the Knavesmire the first marquees go up tomorrow, and volunteers will be on site throughout after that: setting up, running the Rally, then breaking down and clearing up a week today.

And - fingers crossed - the weather forecasts are looking promising for a fantastic Rally! See e.g. the BBC: http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2633352 or Metcheck: http://www.metcheck.com/UK/7days.asp?zipcode=YORK

The 2015 York Rally is imminent - the first marquee went up yesterday, and the rest wil be up today! A team of volunteers are already on site at the Knavesmire and will be working to prepare the site until the campsite opens at 4PM on Friday.

Advance campsite bookings are closed but we have masses of camping space and it's no problem at all for people to turn up on the day... the more the merrier!

The website is also now updated with contact mobile phone numbers and a Visitor FAQ with all the practical details you may need to know...

Last but not least - the weather forecast is looking good!

We hope to see you there for a grand weekend of cycling!

Sorry about lack of updates in the closing stages... the team on site have been working extremely hard to get everything ready for the first campers to come on site in two hours' time (4PM). A huge thanks to all who have participated - more volunteers have been arriving throughout the day and their presence is massively helpful - if only so that key people can be freed up to do other essential tasks.

Just back at the computer briefly to print out a few last signs, forms etc, and to do this update :-)

The tents are all up, the caterers just arrived, campsite's all marked out and the grasstrack area is fenced and pennanted. It's looking like an event!

So please do come - tell your friends too - and let's all make it a weekend to remember!

I'm going to have a look at this today.

Hope to do one of the (shorter) organised rides.

Popped down this afternoon, even if our own weather was less than favourable, must of been us as it got much better at the Rally as soon as we decided to leave.

Good event, nice atmosphere and lots going on at the time we turned up - even coffee out the back of a van!

I believe Mr. HPV Himself was there!

As was the record-breaking machine that Guy Martin had a hand (leg) in.

Well done, one and all - I hope tomorrow is even better.

Cheers - Frank

Just back from the Rally and I thought it was brilliant. Loads of interesting things to look at and to do. I even got "conned" into restarting my membership with the RSF after a break of several years. They're a right bunch of silver-tongued barstewards those off-road guys!

My ride through York to get to the Rally was interesting, as there was a Gay Pride march taking place. I'm not sure which of the two events had the most lycra on display.

Thanks to the organisers for breathing new life into this event. I hope it goes down as a success and look forward to next year.

Hundreds and hundreds rather than thousands and thousands turned up for the first day.

I started my visit by joining one of the organised rides.

About 20 of us had a very enjoyable tootle south of York and back along the Solar track.

Elevenses were laid on in a hall by volunteers from the village, who did an excellent job.

The rally was up and running by the time we returned.

Quite a few recumbents, trikes and tandems on show.

I suspect that says more about the types of businesses prepared to support the rally, than it does about popularity.

Well done to ICE trikes for setting up a small test track and allowing test rides.

The touring bikes from Spa Cycles looked really well - much better than they do on the web.

Disappointing not to see more support from the York cycle trade.

The Electric Transport Shop brought some ebikes to the rally, but where were the likes of Cycle Heaven?

A handful of accessory and component sellers did turn up, and were hopefully rewarded by some sales.

Organisation of the rally appeared excellent, with things happening on time and in the right place.

Putting on such a well-run event from scratch must be seen as something of a triumph.

I hope the rally becomes an annual event again - I understand much will depend on whether this year's has managed to break even.

There's plenty of room to increase the trade area, but there's a danger of over doing that.

Hopefully in the coming years the organisers can strike a balance between balancing the books and over-commercialisation.

Great Rally. I was very pleased to see how many people turned up. I want to thank the hardworking team who made this happen and wish them every success for Rally 2016.

Went along on Sunday afternoon, it felt more like a cycling enthusiasts event than the last few years of the old event, which had a more commercial feel to it, well done everybody for returning this to York.
