where online or in london is a good place to get a single gear bike for this price?

initially i wanted a road bike, but then i realised i dont want to have to fiddle around with derailleurs and gear mechanisms etc. the front derailleur in particular usually gives me problems on my current mountain bikes that i use to commute. ive found that single gear bikes will help me avoid such problems.

ive identified 3 bikes that fit my price range so far, but have next to no idea if they are worth it.

I would go for the fuji or norco. They will be good basic entry level bikes.

+1 for the self build. You'll get a better, lighter bike customized to your own spec and probably unique to boot! Plus the satisfaction of knowing you made it yourself.

Avoid fixed gear frenzy, just look at Google reviews etc

Brick lane bikes or similar would be worth a visit. I almost went there until I sourced the pearson

thanks. i saw your thread on single gear bikes. but i think your budget was a bit higher. on the brick lane bikes site, there are a number of 6ku bikes at £285. how do these compare to the bikes from evanscycle ive listed above?

I don't know, I never looked at them as I bought the touché from someone on here, probably cost double your budget in the end however (I never really had a budget)

Is that the black one? Really nice ride, finishing kit, shame about the colour

Wiggle had for £260 recently, gone up, might come down again (I contemplated one from Evans on a price match but I couldn't reconcile the colour). Go to Evans, test ride them all, decide

Quite heavy though, compared to the Pearson I ended up with
