I have a specialised Roubaix and am looking fr my N+1 to ride in the bad weather through the winter.

My favourite so far is a Boardman which is on offer at £430 at Halfords. I'm not bothered by concerns around the technical skills of Halfords staff as I can sort out the gears, brakes etc myself.

This offer is only available online so I'll need to order it and pick it up in store.

Before I do this I thought I'd ask for suggestion on other bikes that may meet my needs. I am looking for a bike that will take mudguards and I'll be riding on roads and Tarmac cycle paths and will be riding up to 50 miles with the aim of continuing to lose weight and maintain my fitness through the autumn and Winter.

have you looked at the Specialized Sirrus. A 2012 model is £350 from Evans at the moment http://www.evanscycles.com/products...=mkwid__pcrid_19178765816_kword__match__plid_
I have an 8 year old Sirrus which took me from end2end this year.

I don't think I can use the British cycling discount. You have to order and pay online. The discount is only on shop purchases

Yeah...but if your store has one there, then the manager will prob let you have the online offer there and then, then you may be able to 'blag' your voucher....worth a punt perhaps :becool:
