£400 winter shopping list.

Cycle to work scheme is finished this month, thinking of taking out 3-400 and using it for commuting specific winter kit. On my wish list are winter spd boots (got my eyes on a pair of Louis Garneau ls-100 already) a good waterproof jacket, gloves, base layers and socks.

Got through last winter OK with aldi gear and a cheap Adidas showerproof jacket. The only problems I had were putting on wet shoes and wet gloves for the commute home. Any suggestions for kit would be greatfully received.

I'd also recommend the Nightvision evo gloves, you get a pair of inner gloves too which you can use for spring/autumn. Recently picked up a pair of Northwave Celcius GTX boots and they're waterproof & super comfy. Very nice.

Skullcap or cap if you wear a helmet, and buff or two. Possibly a waterproof cover for said helmet

And I'm a big fan of Sportfuls no-rain kit;it may not bee totally waterproof in a downpour but it seems to keep you warm even though you are a bit wet,good wind protection too.

I'm assuming you already have mudguards? If not, that should be top of your list. Overshoes are a good idea, and plenty of socks...

Yep it's allowed, I have in the past, as long as the items are bike related.

E.g. on a hybrid at meander pace or road bike at a decent lick?
