Can anyone recommend an app that will give me ‘the pips’
One of my previous watches, gave a single ‘beep’ on the hour

I’d like something similar on my iPhone (SE)

Suggestions please
Thankyou

Don't need an app.
Open the “Clock” app on your iPhone or iPad and then tap on the “+” button in the Alarm section. From there, configure the time, the repeat cycle, then tap on the “Save” button.

DAB is wrong, but BBC don't care

DAB compresses the signal, and your receiver decompresses it. Both processes take time, but the latter varies according to the device, so the technology makes it inherently impossible to make it consistent for everyone.

FM is direct analogue electronics, so depends only on the speed of light, distance from the transmitter to receiver and from speaker to ear. At light speed of 300 million metres per second, even living in Lerwick doesn't really matter.

For those who like to blame the BBC for everything, though, the distance from ear to brain may delay the signal somewhat too.

To really fry your brain, check the time signal on an internet stream. I can get out of my car (DAB), into the house, unset the alarm and then catch the same point I was listening to, in the car, on my streaming player. Timed at thirty seconds on one occasion. Time signal? Ha!
