This guy's been known as a tw*t for many, many, years. He upset most of the people in the wine trade about 10 years ago. Just ignore him. He'll go away.....

A lot of stuff Nigel Havers said is TRUE and he has only typified the typical motorists attitude towards cyclists.

What he says about cyclists is in most cases correct so I couldn't actually get the hump with what he said.

Looks like we are all tarred with the same brush.

I think if it was typical then the stats on "at fault" cyclist RTAs would be far higher than they are now.

And TBH, I see a fair few myself.

What you have failed to grasp is, Mr. Havers was on an amusing light entertainment programme making a fairly accurate generalisation about the 'potential' danger that bad cycling represents and not 'how awful it is that cyclists 'cause' so many accidents'.;)

The riding in that clip isn't "typical" in my experience.

did you not see the clip i put up yesterday of some women doing exactly the same thing. (ok i know its not typical as such, but does happen) Met Havers in Barns once, seemed ok. I was nt not on a bike though

Why the bloody hell do you want stats when I have actually told you in my unbiased opinion of what I see on the roads week in week out?

What are the stats for RTA's with mobile phone use and RLJers but they do happen occasionally.

What did I see yesterday oh yes one RLJer who also rode up the pavement something else as well but I've forgotten now as I was to busy flying over the handlebars again yesterday afternoon, also a Brompton rider who undertook me on the cycle lane leading up to Waterloo leading me to track him down to the train he was catching and 'have a few words'.

I'll give it to the brompton rider person though discussed it but it didn't get abusive,he apologized and I said how it startled me as I was riding up to Waterloo in the 'down' cycle lane to give the pregnant woman who was walking on the very narrow pavement bit a wide berth...seems like mr brompton didn't do the same, almost leading to a collision.

Noticed a few cyclists without lights tonight. Now I wonder why we have a poor reputation?

BTW mr spindrift,Nigel Havers attitude is the attitude a lot of motorists 'seem' to have out there.

The two actions in the clip didn't even include pavement cycling or RLjing!

they were clearly untypical, over-stated numpty riding. Sure, I see 'em.

They are not typical.

They are not that atypical either. A decent number of cyclists I see cycle with that sort of behaviour, though admittedly they are in a minority.
