You're taking that seal fetish to a whole new level ;)

I think that should be Sealskinz.

Depends on the terrain though - was it uphill or downhill?

Well done Buggi, that sounds a fantastic time!
I'm no swimmer (negative bouyancy doesn't help) but it's just such hard work. I've recently started swimming again and although think nothing (relatively speaking) of doing 100 mimes on the bike, a few lengths of the pool leaves me shattered!
Are you training for a triathlon?

no, i don't do triathlon's because there's no time to whack on the fake tan in between the disciplines

The Salford Quay event was televised over the weekend, wasn't it?

yep that's the one

Pics?

Or would that get a slap?

LOL. i didn't take a camera or my phone coz they said nowhere to put valuables and i didn't have anyone to hold them
Well done.
I really fancy trying an open water swim

you should defo do it. i can't wait til my next one. two miles at Windermere! whoop bring it on (i may have to train for that lol)

Sorry I have a dim and distant memory of buggi posting a picture of herself dressed as a seal for a fancy dress party!

haha yes you're right... now where did i put those flippers?....

thanks guys. i'm very proud of myself (in a humble sort of way... no, actually, nothing humble about it, i've been bragging all day :bravo: ). my time in a pool averages 35 - 37 mins so am well happy with my first ever time in open water, especially as (knowing i can swim a mile) i was a tad complacent with my training (not hit the swimming pool in 2 months) and then it was only when trying out the wetsuit on Thursday night at Bosworth water park that i realised i had seriously underestimated the challenge of swimming in a wetsuit in open water. 300 metres and i was seriously knackered! so i decided i just needed to get my head down and get on with it, try not to think about the distance ahead and just concentrate on breathing and putting one arm in front of the other; which is exactly what i did and the strategy paid off. will definitely have to train for windermere but the buzz i've just got off that one is motivating me now.

Is that Great North Swim? I had a 'lucky escape' last year when I saw the markers were out in the lake for the GNS, I thought I'd slip in ahead of time but didn't manage to do it then there was all the hoo haa about the algae and the health risk and the event got cancelled - a big pity as I seem to recall the weather was really good. And a swim in the sunshine is much nicer than the rain even if it doesn't make a practical difference (and actually I do like swimming in the rain)

Most times I swim in Windermere, there's algae and I don't know that it's done me any harm in the past

Well done on the Salford Quays swim - a braver woman than me ;)
