10 speed cassette on current 8 speed?

Hey,

I've got a Giant Defy 4 and the hub are (I think) non-branded. I currently have 2300 groupset but thinking of moving up to 105.

Am I right in thinking the 10 spd cassette will fit onto my current hub that holds the 8 spd? They don't have different length etc do they?

Yes - it's the same spline for 8/9/10 speed Shimano. SRAM cassettes also drop straight on.
A 10 speed cassette comes with a thin spacer. You need it. DAMHIKT .

If the current cassette only has 8 speed and if it is replaced with 10 speed,
does that need replacing any other components of group set?
Perhaps the chain? Cage?

10 speed cassette will go straight on, you'll also need 10 speed shifters, rear derailleur and a chain.
