Having built up to my 68 miler this year...............assuming I can keep fit over the winter............I wish to do a 100 miler next spring/summer.
I have the Anglesey perimeter in mind but wonder if there are any other/better suggestions.
I have a bike rack so don't mind a bit of travel to get to the start/finish.
Requirements are...........
Not too hilly (I am 68 and new to serious cycling)
A loop/circular if possible...........although my enjoyable 68 was "there and back".
As few major roads as possible.
Thanks

I would like to help with this.

Where is your exact start and finish point, a junction of a road, not an address.

You can use a site called Plotaroute.com on the PC to plot your route. That is what I will use. If you decide to have a go and need help PM me.

What type of bike are you riding?

Any 100 miler in North Wales is going to be lumpy.
doesn't have to be, mind you it is rather boring, but there is NCN 5 along the coast which is flat other than 1 short rise which can be diverted around.
Getting back again via another route is another matter. My OH did a 158 miler (was meant to be 200 miles but he baled) back in the summer from Northwich to Snowdon and back again and the only real climb he had was up Pen y Pass

My first 100 miler only had about 3,000 foot of climbing in it. https://www.strava.com/activities/164502812 that was north wales and Cheshire area. It wasn't designed to be flat and I had no idea what the route was because a friend planned it and road with me, but it is relatively flat, though some of the roads were busier than I would have normally ridden on.

You could do the Manchester 100 route. It is ostensibly across the Cheshire plain.

Have a think about driving to your destination the day before, getting the train back and doing the ride the next day.

I did that for a long ride to York.

The need to retrieve the car was extra encouragement to complete the ride, and having the car there on arrival removed all bikes on train anxiety.

I'm planning to do the Manchester 100 next September as my first 100 mile bike ride. It's lovely around the Cheshire lanes and not very hilly. It's organised and in aid of The Christie Hospital.

A lot of Cheshire and much of north Shropshire is excellent terrain for easy (relatively speaking) long distance rides with loads of quieter roads and lanes to explore.

Just an idea: Chester to Shrewsbury is roughly 50 miles and by browsing OS maps (Landranger 117 and 126 cover this area) it wouldn't be a problem to come up with a route that used different roads each way.

If you start in Liverpool, head out along the transpennine, down to Chester, then up around the Wirral circular back to Liverpool, its pretty close to 100miles. A lot offroad too and you can plan stops at Eureka and Nichols in parkgate.

Oh, and it's pancake flat.

Have a look at the Audax "Spring into the Dales" if you get the train to Littleborough and then cycle over Blackstone Edge to the start and the same back after the event it works out around the 90+ mark, and its a great route.

It is rather hilly but a few off here do it each year and its more of a ride between food stops than a straight ride to get to the end.
