Good afternoon all,
I just want to know if there is a big difference between the 2018 shimano 105 (5800) and the new shimano 105 in 2020 models?
Thank you

The current R7000 is still 11 speed. This is worth a look: https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/...105-r5800-what-are-the-key-differences-374671

There a fair bit of dura ace trickledown technology in the R7000 it’s much more of an upgrade than say going from 5700 to 5800 other than the 10 to 11 speed jump, I’ve recent upgraded for 5700 to R8000 and wow what a transformation, the one thing I really notice is I’ve also gone to a 52/36 chainrings with a bigger cassette to give me the same range as before on a compact only now with the 36 I use it way more than the 34 and I like the speed at a lower cadence the 52 gives, I’m a grinder

As above there are some fairly substantial upgrades to 105 in the new iteration. Shifting is better overall and the action is lighter particularly at the front. Not to mention supporting a wider range of gears and the whole system weighs less.

All of that and I didn't even mention disc brakes:laugh:

Edit to add that I wouldn't choose a bike with new 105 over an older model just on the groupset alone but it would be a factor for me.
