110 mosquito bites

Made the terrible mistake of forgetting to take some repellent to Egypt.
Half way through the second of three days there, i was covered, my shoulders look like they've a group of volcanoes on them.
Got me 40 times on the face...i didnt realise how bad until i went to the washroom at the airport and looked in the mirror I looked like i'd got measles. I felt so self conscious on the plane

I rarely ever get bothered by mozzies while the wife gets eaten alive I'm not laughing now....
Kin elll...i'm starting to itch thinking about them

Anyone else get really 'bugged' by them ?

i once got 27 hornet stings... my own fault really - i went at a dead tree with an axe for firewood... and woke up and pissed off no end it's occupants...

i apparently went white as a sheet, and spent most of the day shivering in a tent....

I was quite lucky when I was in Central America. I did count about 14 bites on my lower left leg and about 9 on the other leg but I think they were from some other insects and not mozzies as it was during the day.

EDIT - This was religiously using 50% DEET as well.

Rotterdam is bad for Mozzies. Quite a few years ago I was there in the Mozzie season and went to bed using repellent over my neck and face but of course not around the eyes. When I got up in the morning my eyes looked as if I had been in a boxing match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was never bothered by them until a few years ago. Suddenly I was flavour of the month on a trip to Rhodes and then in St Emilion I was savaged once more. Took four months to heal properly.

I can sympathise too. I once slept on a beach on Fraser Island, Oz without a shirt and my wife counted 176 bites on my torso and arms in the morning.
Hmmm, that smarts...

Very true Keith. I live not far from Rotterdam and it's pretty bad here too - had my first bite of the season last week.

I went to Egypt last year and got eaten alive. The air con in the hotel stopped working overnight and they lunched out on me. Every single one of them swelled up and went bad.
I counted how many I had on my foot during an idle moment on the beach and had over a hundred on one foot! First time i have really been bitten..

Great place to go, but i would take mozzi stuff even if you never have been bitten before

We stayed in Delft for two weeks last year without a bite. When's the worst time? We're over again in August this year!

I seem to get bitten pretty much all the time between April and September. Not devoured by any means and I seem to be the only one in our family so I wouldn't let it put you off!

(What did you find to do in Delft for two weeks by the way?)

have a look at this guy , Adam wolley ( london_capetown ) on twitter , he is cycling from london to caletown to rais funds for malaria prevention . he was in his tent in egypt when he woke in the morning he had over 100 bites in his face alone , u can see in the small pic below the main one his normal look . glad to say after course of anti biotic he is ok and is well on his way through Africa ,
