I always carry Deet and a headnet for when they are thick -but always seem to get bitten in the normal course of things - seem to get reaction when entering new area - body just about gets used to them and I come across another variety.

IF you are going somewhere relatively exotic MAKE SURE YOU GET ADVICE ON ANTI MALARIALS AND TAKE THEM RIGOROUSLY - I worked abroad when younger and there were always people who did not bother - had read some erroneous c**p about the preventatives not working (sounds familiar) but had caught maleria - not pleasant and almost impossible to get rid of - will follow you through your life

The malaria subject came up today in conversation funnily enough, someone at work knows someone that contracted it and has never worked again

Then theres typhoid...ive been working in a poor city on the Nile, rubbish and rubble piled all over, dirty streets, makes me realise ive got to take it a bit more seriously if i go again.

On the plus side, anti histamines have helped loads, only mild itching now and the blisters are just red blemishes now.
Sharm El Sheikh in August....crikey, i'm going tothe docs to get dosed up with the lot.

I seem to get bitten pretty much all the time between April and September. Not devoured by any means and I seem to be the only one in our family so I wouldn't let it put you off!

(What did you find to do in Delft for two weeks by the way?)

Glad I missed out last time then, fingers crossed next time!
We just wandered around eating drinking and relaxing and cycled everywhere. The car only got started once from arriving till we left. Very relaxing jolly. Just caught the jazz festival before leaving.
Any recommendations for good places to eat?

Cafe du Midi, a short cycle from town.

There's a new place, Restaurant 't Klooster on Vrouwjuttenland (not quite hit it's straps yet, but good if you like Belgian beer).

Pijpenla is probably the most Dutch.

Cheers! We were out cycling last year and peeled off into Cafe du Midi for a drink and booked a table for the following day. Cracking steak!
Belgian beer will always get my attention so will try that out.
