A survey was conducted asking skilled mechanics which were the worst makes of cars.
You may be surprised to see it included all German makes ( Porche, VW, Audi and BMW) all American cars ( no surprise there), Nissan, Subaru and some Korean cars. No French or Italian makes mentioned. I love my French cars and will always buy French. Never had any major problems with them.

Interesting. Gorra link?

This is based upon hard data compiled by the UKs largest aftermarket warranty provider. They measure the numbers of breakdowns and the cost of rectification. It pretty much turns perception upon its head with the so called quality manufacturers generally doing quite poorly.

Contrast this with JD Power, which is largely based upon peoples impressions, perception, and opinions, where the Germans do quite well.

Thanks Drago for the link. Couldn't remember where I read it.

Whereas a car reliability survey of 61,000 drivers has the highest ranked French car in fifteenth place, only four in the top fifty places and occupy eight of the bottom twenty places in the 100 marques/models covered by the survey.

It's a good job that they are easy to work on.

Has anyone actually bought one?

Well in 2013 it was the 20th best selling UK car, so you would think it would be on the list.

Problem is, that's a survey of drivers so is once again based on opinion and impression. The ones based on actual break down data are the ones worthy of note.

That's disputable as the actual breakdown data is for cars out of manufacturers' warrantee and doesn't state if the data includes breakdowns not covered by the extended warrantees.

Just been watching Watch Dog Vauxhall Zafira Bmodel has apparently had a problem with catching fire.
According to the program this has been a problem since 1985.Report did say that it didn't affect models with climate control
