Touch it up and ride it
Location
Northamptonshire
I have been offered this 1952 Humber bike any interest here ?
Looks like a 21" frame , 3 speed sturmey archer dynohub certainly has 2 of 3 gears working on short test ride hub is dated 05/52 .
Outer gear cable cracked and split so replacement cable required. Brakes operate but I can't honestly say they do more than slow you down so will need looking at.
Brooks leather saddle that looks like a B17 cracked around one of the left hand rivets, but comfy enough.
26 x 1"3/8 cracked Michelin tyres tubes hold pressure. Rims are in good condition and spin free front hub has a bit of play.
Not sure what model this is. Full encased chain case all original.
Nice pr of north road/swept back style bars complete with a double bottle holder retained by leather straps and a Lucas king of the road bell .
And a proper head badge
Asking £35 collected from NN8 Wellingborough post code
This is not my bike but a friend's

A lovely find. Named after Thomas Humber of Nottingham and not the River Humber. I have researched this in the past as I am from Hull. I thought it would be nice to have a Humber bike. Until I found that it had no connection to Hull.

I then looked at Humber cars. Only to find that the same Thomas Humber founded that company and so he got me twice.

I did however use a Humber Super Snipe once owned by Stirling Moss for my wedding. Stirling Moss used it to ride round 15 countries in 90 hours, for . The worlds biggest Humber car museum is in Hull.

My uncle Bill was a chauffeur in a Humber Imperial and he gave a lift to another chauffeur down the new M1.

As was the custom, they kept their hats on. No one overtook them them from Northampton to London. ^_^
