Got this 1981 DBS mixte a few weeks ago. DBS is a Norwegian brand, and DBS is an abbreviation for "Den Beste Sykkel", "The Best Bicycle" in English.

I forgot the full "before" picture, here it is a bit later...

At the present time the bike rebuild is almost finished. It's got a new fork, tires and tubes, front chain wheel, rear derailleur, gear shifter, handle bar, grips and brake levers.

The gear shifter is a Sturmey Archer. The five steps suits the Shimano 5 speed freewheel like they were made for each other.

The new front chain wheel has 46 teeth, which makes the gears a bit high - I might have to get a smaller one to suit the local roads.

All weather drum brakes!

Ordered a chain guard from Velo Orange today, and if I can find a simple black rear carrier I think this bike is finished.

I think that chainguard will look pretty good.

Paint/ coating finish looks good in the photos- how was it done?

User13710: I like to ride in normal clothes, so a chain guard is mandatory. Besides, the chain guard I've chosen adds positive vibes, don't you think?

palinurus: Thanks. I sanded the frame and painted it the good old way - by hand.
