Hi,

I am trying to find out the route(s) of the the 1982 Road World Championships at Goodwood, as I ride quite a bit in that area, and would be very grateful for any info, which has been hard to come by on the web.

Post the question at http://www.southdownvelo.org.uk/ I'm sure that one of the older members will know.

Easy ... start on the motor racing circuit (do about 3/4 lap) go up the Trundle past the golf course, turn right at the race course (you can still a little plaque on the left where it finished), along the top, turn right at Pilley Green Lodge, straight down the hill past the Goodwood park Hotel (then the Richmond Arms), turn right at the cross roads back to the motor circuit.

That was the road race course. The team time trial course used roads in the estate.
This should link to a map with the finish at approx 11

Thanks, I looked at the map but the bit to do with the Motor Racing Circuit is very confusing to me . Did they just go round that once at the beginning, I thought it was every time?

Have another look at the SDv site there is a discussion on there with an accurate description of the route. They did indeed go around approx. 2/3 of the moter circut every time

Thanks, the person asking the questions there was me. I think I get it now; from the descriptions and the gmap aerial view provided above, there must have been an exit from the motor track that is now blocked off. It was 27 years ago after all.
